Supports Advanced Satellite Communications Solutions to Enable More Flexible and Economical Ground Station Architectures
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading
National Security Solutions provider, today announced the release of SpectralNet™ by its RT Logic subsidiary. SpectralNet is
the only commercially available product that eliminates the distance constraints of RF transport by digitizing RF signals for
transport over IP networks in a way that preserves both frequency and timing characteristics then uniquely restores the RF
signals at their destination.
By eliminating the distance constraints between antennas and signal processing equipment, SpectralNet's patent pending
technology enables operators to deploy new ground architectures with numerous advantages, such as the ability to mitigate
the effects of rain fade for Ku/Ka satellites, reduce costs by centralizing operations, simplify disaster recovery and system
maintenance, optimize antenna placement and develop a migration path toward virtual ground systems. SpectralNet does all of
this while protecting the operator's current investment in existing equipment.
The global migration to IP and virtualized solutions has reshaped many industries over the past decade, enabling the
distribution of many types of content via IP networks. Satellite ground systems have not been able to take full advantage of this
trend given the constraints on RF signal distribution. With SpectralNet, the lossless transport of packetized RF over IP
networks—public or private—is now possible, over any distance, even in the presence of real world IP network limitations.
Scott Criley, SpectralNet product director, said, "SpectralNet now enables satellite and range ground infrastructures to take full
advantage of IP transport and finally decouple the receipt and transmission from the processing of RF spectrum. SpectralNet's
high-fidelity digital conversion and accurate restoration of the RF signals are designed to ensure that any signal, regardless of
modulation type, error-correction coding method, or frequency spread scheme, can be reproduced after transport. This
capability enables powerful architectural advantages for antenna facilities, operations centers, and the communications ground
segment enterprise that improve flexibility and lower operation and maintenance costs."
"SpectralNet will enable aerospace ground infrastructures to take full advantage of the migration to IP and virtualization,"
commented John Monahan, President of RT Logic. "SpectralNet allows satellite ground stations and teleports to re-architect
operations to maximize the promise of IP transport."
SpectralNet will on display at Satellite 2015, March 16-18, 2015, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC, in
the Kratos booth, #3025.
