05 MAY 2015: At AUVSI today, organisers of the Farnborough International Airshow confirmed that the event would create more opportunities for flying demonstrations for unmanned systems at the show. As well as outdoor flying – present at the show since 2010 - the event will see the return of the indoor flying net to showcase small UAS capabilities.
Amanda Stainer, Commercial Director for Farnborough International Ltd (FIL) commented, “The unmanned sector is revolutionising the aerospace industry with manufacturers adopting UAS technology to develop new, more advanced machines. Additionally, government departments and other aerospace sectors are beginning to realise the potential of UAS to fulfil needs from airport security to emergency services surveillance. Within the UAS zone at FIA16, we want to create an environment for our UAS exhibitors to showcase their products - the flying net provides the perfect opportunity to do this.”
Laura Tilling, Business Development Manager for FIL further added, “The audience profile of the Farnborough International Airshow allows UAS exhibitors to explore much wider business-to-business markets compared to other events. The event consistently delivers a unique audience with almost 50% of our audience only attending FIA, our military and civil delegations programmes are exemplary and we are increasing our marketing efforts across sectors that are looking to explore the various commercial applications of the technology.”
The world renowned Farnborough International Airshow, is the global aerospace event attracting exhibitors and visitors from all over the world, right across the supply chain. The UAS Zone at the FIA14 saw high visitor attendance with 79% rating it as either good or excellent. As well as the return of the indoor flying net, exhibitors will have the opportunity to participate in product briefings and the Meet-The-Buyer programme where exhibitors have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with key decision makers and heads of procurement.
The civil and military delegations programme is also a major networking opportunity for UAV exhibitor who can be included in the programme of pre-arranged visits and meetings, which totalled 70 military delegations from 46 countries and 13 civil delegations from 10 countries at FIA14.
Tilling further added, “It’s not just about the five day trade event, our social media channels and soon to be launched website will create an opportunity to engage with potential customers before, during and after the show. In addition, the zone will be open during the public weekend allowing the general public to experience this new technology.”
FIA16 is exhibiting at AUVSI on stand no 2561.
