DWA Aluminum Composites USA, Inc.

Chatsworth,  CA
United States
  • Booth: 925

DWA-USA welcomes all attendees to visit us at booth 925.

DWA produces powder-metallurgy Aluminum Metal-Matrix-Composites (Al MMCs). This "off-the-shelf" advanced material has over 20 years of flight heritage for a variety of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. We specialize in serial production of semi-finished and finished parts and engineering process development serving aerospace and industrial markets. High strength and stiffness-to-weight along with superior fatigue resistance are key properties. Al MMC’s offer performance and cost benefits compared to aluminum, titanium and steel, as well as organic composites.

  • Aluminum Metal-Matrix-Composites
Off-the-shelf advanced material for reduced structural weight, improved dynamic response, and service life extension. Due to its particulate reinforcement, Al MMC's are processed like conventional metals providing a high level of fit, form and function....

  • DWA-USA’s Al Metal-Matrix-Composites are produced using a proprietary powder metallurgy process of blending, vacuum degassing and hot pressing.  The conventional, secondary metalworking processes of extrusion, forging and rolling are employed to create a wide variety of semi-finished and finished product forms.

Improved, isotropic strength- and stiffness-to-weight and fatigue resistance are the key distinguishing features of Al MMCs compared to legacy aerospace aluminum alloys.

DWA-USA Al MMCs are in their third decade as a serial production, advanced aluminum alloy for a growing number of demanding aerospace and defense applications. The primary benefits our end-users are realizing include:

    • Reduced Structural Weight
    • Improved Dynamic Response
    • Service Life Extension
    • Enabling Designs

Because DWA-USA Al MMCs behave similar to unreinforced wrought aluminum alloys during secondary processing and finishing, a very high level of fit, form and function is maintained throughout the design, development and production life cycle. Our Al MMCs currently outperform conventional metals and, in some cases, organic matrix composites as:

    • Critical Rotating Parts
    • Skins and Control Surfaces
    • Outer Guide Vanes
    • Avionics Racking
    • Hydraulic Actuators
    • Stable Members
