    SAN DIEGO, Calif.--()--SLANTRANGE, pioneers of a smarter approach to aerial remote sensing and analytics for agriculture, today announced its $5 million Series A equity financing from a consortium of investors led by The Investor Group, a leading San Diego based investment firm. The funding will accelerate the development and scaling of SLANTRANGE’s proprietary drone sensor and analytics technology to help farmers improve operations amid a rapidly transforming business landscape.

    “Farmers are continually seeking ways to improve crop yields with minimal risk. Drones offer an exciting solution, but historically haven’t been built for the precise needs of the agriculture industry,” said Mike Ritter, CEO of SLANTRANGE. “SLANTRANGE delivers on the promise of drones with an intelligence system that combines hardware and software to bring farmers crop information they need to make better operational decisions. This investment enables us to scale our technology and team to meet the soaring demand we’re seeing from the agricultural community in the United States and beyond.”

    SLANTRANGE provides sensor and analytics systems for use on drone aircraft which measure a range of conditions, such as crop plant and weed densities, stress from pest infestations, nutrient deficiencies and dehydration. With more accurate and complete intelligence at their fingertips, farmers, crop scouts and agronomists can quickly make decisions to improve their harvest and reduce operational costs. SLANTRANGE began with a focus on applications for corn and soybeans and now has deployments serving multiple crops across the United States and abroad.

    SLANTRANGE provides the most efficient drone data collection and processing speeds for agriculture. The technology is always calibrated with a frame-to-frame, onboard, ambient sunlight spectrometer, enabling more accurate information and insight generation over the course of a growing season or multiple seasons. Unlike conventional mapping techniques, SLANTRANGE technology only requires 20 percent overlap, which means four times more area is covered per flight, drastically cutting costs. Farmers can access a variety of valuable data products within minutes of the drone’s flight, representing an unprecedented turnaround time in the industry and marking a key advantage for timely farming decisions. Critically, the analytics do not require a network connection or uploading of data to the cloud, enabling the system to be used in any location throughout the world.

    SAN DIEGO--()--SLANTRANGE, pioneers of a smarter approach to aerial remote sensing and analytics for agriculture, today announced the launch of a new product line that will allow growers and agronomists to obtain and process data faster and more efficiently. The two new sensors, SL2i and SL2p, as well as a new version of SLANTVIEW, the company’s proprietary data analytics software, together have four patents pending and will more than double the resolution, data collection rate, and processing efficiency over the prior generation. This will enable customers to cover twice as much area in a flight as the previous generation technology did – and four times as much as conventional multispectral mapping techniques.

    “We work closely with our customers to understand the problems they are facing on the ground,” said Mike Ritter, CEO of SLANTRANGE. “One of the biggest concerns we hear is the race against the clock. Drone battery life limits flight time and affects how efficiently farmers can collect data. We have optimized our new products to maximize the area that can be imaged within a flight to help farmers gain more insights faster, and at a lower cost.”

    The new version of the analytics software, SLANTVIEW, will offer even faster data processing, typically less than five minutes for a 160-acre field, and new data products, including plant population counts, yield potential, and canopy closure. With the new user interface, customers will more easily access data and streamline their workflow according to individual preferences. The software is tightly integrated with the sensors, which are available in two versions. SL2i is the suggested product for entry-level users while SL2p will offer full multispectral performance for more advanced users.
